Farzi (2023)
Farzi (in Arabic) fake) is an Indian Hindi-language television series about counterfeit money that was created, produced, and directed by Raj & DK. Sita Menon and Suman Kumar also co-wrote the series. Bhuvan Arora, Raashii Khanna, Shahid Kapoor, and Kay Kay Menon are all in it.
BY 2019, Farzi, which began as a film in 2014, had grown into a television series. In July 2021, principal photography began in Mumbai. Additionally, filming took place in Jordan, Alibaug, Goa, Nepal, and The songs were written by Tanishk Bagchi and Sachin–Jigar, and Ketan Sodha composed the score. On February 10, 2023, the eight-part series was made available on Amazon Prime Video.
To save his grandfather's dying printing press, an artist starts a shady business designing and printing counterfeit notes. His once-in-a-lifetime crime turns into a thriving syndicate before he even realizes it.
Deserted by his own dad and taken in by his maternal Granddad, Bright (Shahid Kapoor) has grown up with disdain against the world. Aside from his closest companion Firoz (Bhuvan (Arora) and his Nanu (Amol Palekar), there is nobody he can call his Own. Furthermore, it's inevitable before he changes from making conceptual yet lovely compositions and offering them for peanuts to the universe of wrongdoing. It Begins as a frantic endeavor to help his Nanu's deep rooted distribution 'Kranti' yet sOon he understands his own true capacity as a splendid craftsman, who can plan 'Farzi' notes like no other person.
Raj and DK go all in on a crime that has rarely been explored on screen. This thrilling web series goes into dangerous detail about everything from making fake notes to their distribution and penetration of the economy. so that we wonder if criminals could use it for bad purposes. However, despite the show's realistic tone, the creators employ a lot of cinematic convenience that seems unbelievable and even absurd at times. Especially when a financial crime of this magnitude is committed in the nation and only a few decent people appear determined to stop it.
Having said that, "Farzi" tells its story through extremely strong characters. Each significant character is clearly defined and fleshed out. Even though they all take place at the same time, not all of them are equally interesting. For instance, Vijay Sethupathi's portrayal of task force officer Michael Vedanayagam's (Vijay Sethupathi) entire track feels rushed and stifles the otherwise frantic pace of this thriller. As a result, filmmakers get carried away with the freedom of runtime when they move from the big screen to the screen. This shoW could have been crisper, more interesting, and more engaging for the viewer with some careful editing. However, this one is a simple binge due to its constant thrill and unpredictability. In addition, the show is as big as a movie, with telling cinematography by Pankaj Kumar, extensive outdoor location use, and high production values.
Here, performances also take the lead. Shahid Kapoor succeeds once more as the bad boy with a heart in Kaminey. In his first OTT show, the actor is in excellent form and effortlessly assumes the role. In the same way, Vijay Sethupathi brings his signature style to his role as the highly motivated officer Michael, who never follows orders. It's the conflict of these two very impressive and strong characters that continues fuelling the account with enormous dosages of fervor. Kay Kay Menon is hilarious as Mansoor, the kingpin of counterfeit notes. The actor perfectly portrays the eccentricities and quirks of his character, from the flamboyant, ultra-chic, and metrosexual way he dresses to the way his kachchi Angrezi uses profanity. As Sunny's best friend and husband, Friday Firoz, Bhuvan Arora does an outstanding job. Because of the ease with which he makes you fall in love with Firoz, the actor is, in point of fact, quite the surprise package. The upright freedom fighter, played by veteran actor Amol Palekar, still has hope from the country's youth and his fading newspaper, "Kranti." In this story, which is dominated by men, women are greatly outnumbered by men, but Raashi Khanna plays Megha, a young professional who is eager to succeed.
There are too many F and MC, BC Words, which is a trope for such shows on OTT. Fortunately, only a few of these characters seem out of place here. Overall, the dialogues are very pertinent and appropriate for each character. Overall, "Farzi" is a refreshing and intensely gripping story about a scammer that has more positive aspects than negative ones.
