The Last Coffee (2023)
The Last Coffee is a Hindi Language film released in 2023. Rehaan and Iram finally meet for coffee at the brink of divorce. However, they become stranded in a snowstorm and are forced to confront their bottled emotions.
The misunderstandings led to the breakup of Rehan and Iram's marriage. However, before their final divorce hearing, they do meet for one final cup of coffee. Will they be able to reconcile and confront all of their emotions, or will life have different plans for them?
The story of a couple who were once married but are now estranged due to misunderstandings is told by writer-director Shoib Nikash Shah, who also plays the lead character, Rehan. Rehan and Iram, played by Ankita Lokhande, are arguing their divorce in the opening scene. However, Rehan extends an invitation to Iram to have one more cup of coffee with him prior to the final hearing. On the other hand, the universe has other ideas for them because the snowstorm keeps them together and forces them to face all of their feelings. The outcome of their reconciliation is the focus of the narrative.
The film, which is set in the town of Patnitop in Jammu and Kashmir, looks absolutely stunning. The snow-covered houses and close-up shots of melted ice from the rooftop are beautifully captured in each frame, making it stunning visually. Unfortunately, the love story between Rehan and Iram is not the same. The story is told through flashbacks of how they first met, fell in love, and got to this point during their last coffee.
Although Shoib's writing is inconsistent, the events in Rehan and Iram's lives unfold in a confusing manner, making it difficult for viewers to relate to what is going on in the protagonist's life. Although Shoib's direction is excellent, This 80-minute film has a slow pace overall, but it does have a few touching moments.
Parts of The Last Coffee's acting are enjoyable. In emotional scenes, Ankita Lokhande shines brightly and looks stunning. Rehan is played by Shoib Nikash Shah with conviction.
Both Lokhande and Shah have done well on their own, but their chemistry on screen is a little off. As a consequence of this, it is not difficult for viewers to lose interest in their stories.
The dialogue is fairly standard, but the shayari is well-written throughout the film. Any romantic movie needs music, but the soundtrack in this one is just okay.
The Last Coffee' is served cold, which is unusual for a love story that takes place in such a picturesque setting. Therefore, if you enjoy romantic tales with a slow pace, this one might pique your interest.
